Files opened in Flexi are always 'Masked'

I purchased a laptop this past week from another local that is closing up shop. I bought it for those nights where I want to get home and work from my La-Z-Boy instead of chugging away at the shop. The laptop is a few years old, and is running Flexi Pro 8.1. I noticed this right away, and it's really starting to bug me. No matter what file I open, whether it be .ai, .pdf, or .eps, I have to unmask the artwork before I can proceed to make changes. It's only this laptop too. I can open the exact same file at the shop (Flexi Pro 8.6) on either PC and it opens flawlessly.

It's not a deal breaker by any means, but it's definitely an annoyance. Any ideas?

Weird. On my laptop- with 8.1.1, PDFs come in masked (as you said) but everything else seems to come in okay, though sometimes it depends on whether I import or just open the file.
I'm not anywhere near my workstation, but I think FlexiCloud does the same thing. I guess it depends on how the file is created or something.

I thought that as well, but like I said, the exact same files open without a hitch on our 2 shop pc's It is rather annoying but can live with it if I have to for what I paid.
