Four police killed

What a disaster. My thoughts and empathy go out to the Washington State communities and those friends & families affected by yesterday's tragic shooting of four police officers. (3 male, 1 female).

Very sad. And even sadder that this man was behind bars where he needed to be serving a life sentence... and then for whatever reason, he had his sentence commuted...

I think I saw something on the news that he had his sentence drastically reduced and was out thanks to Huckabee.

Long before coming to Washington, Clemmons was serving a 35-year prison term in Arkansas for armed robbery but his sentence was commuted by then-Gov. Huckabee, who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination in his 2008 presidential bid, according to the Arkansas Times Web site.

After his release, he committed two armed robberies and other crimes and was sentenced to 10 years, but was later paroled, according to this column in the Arkansas Leader.

Huckabee, who was Arkansas governor for more than eight years beginning in 1996, granted sentence reductions to more than 111 people during his time in office. In commuting Clemmons' sentence Huckabee cited the fact that Clemmons was a teen-ager when he committed his crimes.

The guy was sentenced for 35 years but got out early. Did two more times, sentenced to 10 years but got out early. Now was (theoretically) killed four people...he'll probably be out in three years. Sentencing is a POINTLESS tradition these days.

It is strange how you never seem to be in for the time given to you, but you can't say they're too nice cuz for some... it's ridiculous how harsh the sentencing is. A guy I know spent 3 years in jail for hitting his wife. She called the cops in anger saying he hit her, but then later admitted he never did, even told everyone in court he didn't... but just to be careful, they gave him 3 years.

The whole system is jacked...




But moving on, that is truly sad what happened. Some angry people in the world...

There are four families without a husband or father because some politician felt bad for the poor criminal. When will we learn from our mistakes. The politician should do as much time as the "reformed"criminal.

My sympathies to the families who deserved so much more than a lost husband/father.

You gotta be kidding me. What the guy did is horrific, but don't blame the governor for a judgement failure. No man can see the heart of another. There are safer people behind bars than the waitress serving you coffee. Past mistakes can either harden your heart or soften it, some people come away from it determined to never **** up, some come out twisted and cruel.

Governor probably made a mistake, but you seriously think if he knew the guy who kill again, he'd have let him out? NOOOOOOO

my wifes nephew....did 2 years hard time...........for FAILNG A DRUG TEST.........he was on probation for selling A JOINT TO A NARC. and this is the town where the BILLING FAMILY WAS MURDERED.
and as of the moment............with no CONCLUSIVE PROOF this is the killer, he is just the lead SUSPECT......so lets not rush to any conclusion. the police are under a lot of pressure at this time, and the news cycles DEMAND some progress..............remember ballon boy????
iam thinking this wasnt just a random killing..............and to drop 4 officers in vests, seems to me either a professional or more then 1 did the shooting.
anytime someone is killed is a tragedy, and no amount of sympathy will make it any better.

I will have to say that the courts do not always do what is right. I am a Deputy in Kentucky and have been for 4 years now. And i have seen some people that should get little or no time and get a lot. And also the other way people that should get a lot of time get out very fast. My prayers go out the the familys of the fallen police. I am a Deputy at night and run my signs shop during the day.

You are soooooo right OP! He is only the LEAD SUSPECT......in the technical sense.

A. He has been identified as the suspect by eye-witnesses.

B. He was picked up in Lakewood by friends he called, who drove him back
to Seattle where he lives. They told police that he had a gunshot wound
to the stomach.

C. He cut off his house arrest monitor ankle bracelet and left it in his home which was found by investigating police last night.

D. Evidence was found in the home indicating he may have sustained a
gunshot or other serious wound.

E. He is, by neighbors description, a Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde.

F. He has an extensive criminal history.

G. He is currently awaiting trial for assaulting a police officer, rape of a child, and other serious offenses.

H. He is nowhere to be found so far and his wife as well as other close
associates (supposedly) have no clue to his whereabouts.

I. A $125,000.00 reward for info leading to his arrest is up for
claim,...without any takers.

J. Off-duty officers from all over the state have joined in the man-hunt, as
well as the military offering up its services.

K. House-to-house searches for this P.O.S. are ongoing.

L. The media has covered this case constantly. Don't you think if he was
not the perp, he would at least get an attorney and call the police, the
Wa. State Attorney General as well as the media and proclaim his
innocence?

Now O.P., can you form a logical conclusion?

Oh yeah...one more thing.......His vehicle was impounded from a lot a short distance from the crime scene.

He was alone at the time of the shooting however he did later receive assistance hiding and getting some make-shift medical help. Most of those people are now in custody and the P.O.S. is now dead. Seattle police got him around 2:30 this morning. He had one of the slain officers duty weapons. Those that helped hide him and gave aid will now be charged for it.
