frog juice question

just bought a can of frog juice and have just sprayed down the liqiud lam....now, first time i've used this so...do i let it dry a couple hours and re apply a second coat? or is one coat enough? sprayed digital cast material if that makes any difference....... how long should you let it dry before handling it to apply to the substrate?

Wipe it off, throw away the can, and never buy it again.

Some of the most worthless stuff I have ever used. EVERYTHING I ever used it on...yellowed in a couple years. Short term protection? Sure. Otherwise, junk.

We use frog juice on all our Edge prints with many many years of good results.
I have no experience using it on inkjet prints though....but one coat is usually all that's required.

Serious? Don't know a guy around here that will use it, and I've seen signs yellow badly from it....you live in a high sun part of the country, minimal etc? We get mostly rain

We use it from time to time and have good results with it.
digital prints we used it on three years ago still look great.

One coat should do.
I always wait 24 hours before installation after spraying.

I wouldn't say we're in a high sun area, 4 full seasons. We've have done tons of Edge printed signs & vehicle graphics and have frog juiced them all. It pops the color and definately increases the longevity. We brush it on, one quick smooth coat (never try to brush another coat on). But like I said we don't use it on inkjet prints, those we laminate.

thanks guys! only reason i am using this is because my diage solo laminator sucks!! brand new laminator, 2 techs out trying to get it to lay down laminate without creases.......not 1 good result!! i have to install 3 large graphics on a trailer by tomorrow, had a tech out this morning for 3 hours and wasted a ton of cast lam trying to lay it down without creases!! unbelievable!! so, solution that was suggested, get some liquid lam, get it on, get the job installed tomorrow and then try and sort out what to do with the laminator!! its great for mounting...but laying down laminate.....waste of time, money and materials.........

We use it with no problems. We generally do a light coat first and then follow an hour or so later with a heavier coat.

Works great for thermal prints, but we have no complaints on inkjets either.

thanks gino, any feedback on this product is appreciated!! wasn't sure if i had to do one coat, leave it a few hours, do another coat etc. will be installing it tomorrow.

I have been known to use it from time to time. I have never had any problems or yellowing out here in the desert. I have had another sign guy tell me it was terrible and it screwed his prints up. He then also told me he finished the prints and about 1/2 hour later sprayed it onto his prints. I am assuming that is why he had some problems.

yeah.....that'd probably explain why huh!! not letting it outgas for starters has got to be a major concern!! these prints have been out gassing for 48 hrs..we usually leave 24 hrs but was waiting on the tect to come and show us how this laminator worked properly!! that didn't go to plan for sure!!!

I use Clearshield water based liquid lam. Use a foam roller. Looks nicer I think than Frog Juice plus doesn't have the odor.

actually went to buy the clear shield as thats what the tech had recommended but he came out with this frog juice instead and said its the same kinda thing...give it a go!

I used to use the frog juice, but the smell was unbearable. A friend of mine had been using the Clear Shield for a long time and recommended me trying it. Used it and fell in love with it. I get the good foam rollers from Lowes and it rolls down like a dream. The more coats you use the shinier it gets. Clear Shield does make a solvent version but I have always used the water based.

I agree with flame, maybe it has to do with the NW weather, but i have had signs yellow before from it. I have used clearshield with no problems.

maybe next time if i have cause to use a liquid lam i'll try the clear shield....i've heard alot of people recommend it.

no frog juice here iether,
I got two cans one is partial used the other never opened.
IT flaked off the only job i used it on.

It will melt magnetics if it merely touches teh black parts.
Use it and throw away the brush or roller if you use it that way.

I will use rollaguard or clearshield or clearstar any day before frog juice.

I have never rolled it, I have always used the spray can. Maybe the stuff you need to roll on isn't as good. Not sure. About 3 years ago, I got in a pinch because I forgot to tell the place I outsource my printing to laminate the prints, I needed to have something put up before Sunday. It was Friday. Their are no sign supply stores around here and no one will ship on Friday. I used regular Krylon clear spray paint. It looked good and applied fine. I told them that I would have to replace it for them because of the issue. They told me to hold off because they may want to change the sign. 3 years later it is still up in the sun and still looks good.
