i dont get it...

you charge about 100 dollars for about a 10 dollar product that might take all of 15 - 20 min tops to put together something nice...
and they will eventually need to reorder...


and thats not enough profit?

I pretty sure that most of us, sign people here don't have set up to print & cut cards in house, so we have to outsource it. To outsource good quality cards, not cheap crap, i have to pay 40-60 dollars for 1k cards, depends on the cardstock i want to use. 15-20 mins to put something nice? Well you are a lucky one then, because lot of people will blow your brains over a business cards & design, plus they don't want to pay for design yet.

At the end of the project, we have on average:

- $50 invested just to print cards
- 30 mins to an hour of your time

Charging $90 and making $40 dollars, no thank you, i have better things to do. Thats why i only do cards for existing customers i have.

Signed up and got the call.

Their price is way higher than the other supplier.
Mentioned it to the rep and they wanted me to supply a screen shot of my rating on the other supplier.

Didn't want to jump through hoops and said no. In the end they added me to a price match deal. So Both are about the same.

Shipping is closer from one verses the other. This may make a difference in some orders.

I see you are in Canada, perhaps that is where the cost discrepancy comes from. 1000 standard cards on either 14 or 16 pt stock (depending on coating) cost me about $18 with shipping. If someone wants a premium cardstock, I charge them accordingly. For example, 500 "Silk" cards are $165, and even those don't cost me $50. The majority of the people who get business cards are already getting signs with us, so it takes less than 10 minutes to lay out the cards. Why not upsell and make an extra $75+ for a tiny amount of work?

Im in Canada as well, my cost on 16pt cards double sided is around $15 including free shipping to me (Im within their "free local delivery" area)
