You would get more cooperation from the chocolate bunny if you water boarded him instead. He'll never talk if you melt his mouth off.

I feel like I am just gliding through life. I get up, take my kids to school, go sit at the shop and work on stuff, come home make diner, drink a few beers and go to bed.. I just do not feel like any reason to do anything. Just like I have hit a dead end. Nothing seems to excite me anymore. Am I alone on this? I feel sad all the time. Did you know the last time I saw my dad was in november, at the hardware store...he didn't even come see his grandkids fpr Christmas? i call him several times, but no answer. Sorry for the rant. Guess no big deal since he did kick me and my mom and brother out when I was 7. I bothers me that he and his wife come get her grand-daughter every weekend (they live next door to me). I will delete this in the morning I am sure, so GOOD NITE NOW!

You should take up big game hunting. Once "it" happens, you will wake up everyday and think about it. 24-7.

Being a grandpa is more fun than working
This is the first time...in a long time...where I haven't had the winter blues. I don't know if I can put my finger on just one thing, however.

I've done a better job at watching what I eat, and I'm in the early stages of kicking the caffeine habit (Coke, Pepsi, and the luscious taste of freshly ground / freshly brewed Starbucks coffee). That alone has helped tremendously.

By nature, I'm a life-long learner. I took a "winter" job at a factory where (as a factory worker) I am able to learn the "inside workings" of plant efficiency. On break time, I walk through the plant observing, planning and mulling things over in my head. It's sorta of like college, but without all the expense. I walk out each day with new ideas to implement into my own business as soon as work picks up in the spring. I also watch how managers interact with their subordinates and try to learn what not to do. In all actuality, I've found that "people and their issues" seem to be the most interesting thing to watch and learn from. It's kinda like a live version of reality TV.

Last, but not least, I've tried my hardest to encourage my co-workers who will remain at the plant long after I'm back out on my own. They're the ones who seem to be living life "on the hampster wheel". All they know is a life lived in front of a humming machine...day in...and day out. They're trapped in a "safety zone" and seem to know very little about the thrill of being out on one's own...in the world of self employment. Some like that safety, but for the others who chafe at life doing something else it can be extremely depressing.

Whatever you do, try to get the focus away from yourself. I know it's extremely easy to get weighed down with responsibility and the mundane, but there are others out there who are far more in need of encouragement and attention.

Hang tough man,

JB

Totally know where you are coming from, I have been feeling the same for sometime now - to the point where I actually got worried enough to talk to my wife about it.

I thought back to when I was feeling good about life, and the present to try and find out what is different. Had a look at everything that I have got and realised that I have pretty much achieved everything I set out to achieve, with the exception of one or two things.

So at this point, I am getting up, going to work, going home, going to bed, getting up, going to work, going home, going to bed, getting up, going to work, going home, going to bed, etc etc with no direction.

I dont have much to complain about at all - have a good business, great family and friends, but still find myself down in the dumps...

So what I am hoping will fix me is I am currently laying out a whole new set of goals for the next few years to give myself a point in getting up in the morning... to be honest, even this is hard because I am pretty down and need to be in the right frame of mind to do it, but this may help you?

I really enjoy your contribution to signs101 Mosh, and know what you are going through!!

Mosh, take care of yourself first. You can't make your loved ones happy unless you are.
If you are really depressed professional help IS the best advice. However, if it's just life's blahs, figure out what would make you the happiest right now and do it. No matter what the cost or risk. Do it. The trouble is, from my experience, most people when asked, cannot answer that question. If you can then take that trip, talk to your father, learn that skill. The scarier the better.

I'm suffering from a health problem right now that can be so bad, it has brought people to suicidal thoughts.

I've had to change my schedule, (both work and sleep) and turn down work. I'm depressed (on and off) and I have a battle that may last a couple years. So I asked myself what is the best thing I can do for my well being. A trip to the Carribean (alone, as I am recently single) is what I came up with. leaving in a few days. And just renting an apartment in a small town i've never been to, because an all inclusive resort is not challenging or scary in any way. If that doesn't help, then I'll try something else. If it does, I may stay as long as it takes to feel better.
Good luck, and please keep us posted if you decide to try something

It's better to have two hands than one glove.
I respect vegetarians. Anti-hunting meat eaters I don't.

Why? Scratch a vegetarian and find a hypocrite. To be a functioning vegetarian requires the support of a rather sophisticated civilization. A meat-eating civilization.

Without that civilization in place to provide the necessary goods and services that enable vegetarianism, a vegetarian would be reduced to being a hunter/gatherer spending its entire waking life foraging for something to eat. Falling upon anything slower and weaker than itself and devouring it.

A vegetarian is much like that person who proclaims, usually with great self-righteousness, that it would never eat X, whatever X might be. All that means is they've never been sufficiently hungry.

That's interesting. I've never considered that vegetarians rely on meat eaters to survive.

Get your testosterone checked out. My best friend described feeling the same way as you. He went to a men's health specialist who did complete blood work and discovered his testosterone levels were out of whack. Now he uses some medications and is feeling much better.

Good Advice right there! Combine that with burnt out Adrenals and you start feeling like something that was deposited in the pasture. Before you know it, you will look like that too.
