Google+ is everything FB wishes it could be. I remember when Gmail first came out and people thought it would NEVER overtake Hotmail or Yahoo....

Jump on the bandwagon now - it's gonna be a fun ride :)

I really like Google+. The plus side is that its integrated the worlds most popular and powerful search engine. Social integration with G+ just makes sense.

we are on it, but only found a few others on it that we know, seems like it is not being adopted by the mainstream at all

It's getting ridiculous at this point. Too many social mediums to waste time on. I don't think I will bother as FB is heavily saturated with info and contacts already. What comes next after Google+??? At some point you will need eight hours in a day to keep up with everything.

Some people do, which is why they hire social media managers. I don't personally care for managed output, but I think their presence is great; a need filled, and a job created.

Completely false, user growth has been explosive (fastest network to 50 million users ever) and you find +1 buttons on pretty much every major site now.

BTW a bunch of the OP info is old (you can use Google+ with an Apps account).

Everyone really should be on this medium as it's not just a "social network", Google is integrating it throughout their entire ecosystem (the youtube rollout starts shortly/has just started) and participation impacts SERPs. I could probably post a novel as to why you should be on it but...just be on it. Early adopters to explosive growth mediums reap rewards (and we're already past early).

Here's a quick tip:
search for: shared circle "topic"
Replace topic with whatever topic you're looking for good people to follow in. The search results will show circles other people have shared related to that topic, and you can then add those circles or you can view the circled people in it and add them individually to your own circles or WHATEVER. Instant way to populate your G+ stream.

I realize I'm probably a luddite, but all this social media stuff constantly reminds me of "the Emperor's Clothes". I just don't get it....

"the Emperor's Clothes". I just don't get it.

Go to a marketing seminar and it will be all too clear.
I've been to two one in July and one last weekend. In just a few months things have changed drastically. The technology is changing so fast that sleepers will be left in the dust.

Techniques that were once the standard of selling are now dead. One segment I attended even mentioned that SEO as we know it is headed for the morgue. Last spring google just about killed off high rankings for those link farms that many thought were so important.

Google killed the link schemes over 5 years ago. And anyone that can still crack their algorithm won't share that info with others. That is 7 figure info for a savvy internet marketer. These SEO companies are a sham and will most likely get your site black listed by google. As to social networking....where does it end. Is ten hours a week keeping up with this more productive than knocking on doors or picking up the phone?

Hey look more false information. Beware fly by night seo firms but it's a massive and legit part of doing business online. Pidgeonholing seo into content farming backlink circles is just plain ignorance.

For example are you properly using schema on your website? Don't know what that means or why it's important? A seo could help. There's a lot to stay on top of in the ever changing online marketing world and a good white hat (or grey hat) seo is one of your most important partners if you rely on online income.

how can you say its false?

i see the plus 1 stuff every where yes, but when on actual google+, i do searches and do not find any people that i know, or very few at that, but search facebook and find anybody and everybody

the mainstream has not taken hold of this yet, being pushed yes, but not mainstream by any means, ask anyone what facebook is and you get an answer, i have been asking people around here if they are moving towards google+ and the response is usually "whats that?"

So by mainstream you mean "your friends". When I think mainstream I think companies and people with large amounts of network authority. G+ is more than a network for close friends, it's not a replication of Facebook. It's closer to Twitter than Facebook but with Facebook-like capabilities mixed with Groupware capabilities.

I think most people I know have it, but none of them use it, because it doesn't have EVERYONE on it like FB does. In my community it's not taking off yet. Still pretty stagnant. You hear about something on FB everyday, I haven't heard anyone say the Google + word yet.

no i don't mean "my friends", this is a small community, i have looked for several people and businesses on it, even national comapnies, and hardly find anything other than the usual trash that is just clutter, and not a twitter fan either, don't understand it

you appear to be a "authority" on google+ so i will just leave it at that
