Just use Amazon S3, why bother with a company repackaging it for profit. It's not very complicated.

The 'cloud' may be fine for working with with smaller files but how long is it going to take to write the file directly to the cloud when you hit "save" on a complex vehicle wrap designed at full scale? Meanwhile said design program is rendered unusable until that file is done saving. What happens when the 'cloud' fails or files for bankrupty???

Had to update this thread based on your observation. After using this a week and designing some heavy graphics files for a simple program for my Football team and trying to save the .pdf. I have to say this wasn't my best decision of the year. It took me 15 minutes to save the .pdf.

I wouldn't even want to attempt this with something as large as a vehicle wrap by any means. Just not practical.

I do believe though as an automatic backup system and for accessing my smaller files like postcards, business card, and real estate sign designs its perfect.

I would advise anyone wanting to attempt this to think ahead about the level of work you will be doing when making your decision to go this route.

You don't work directly off of cloud storage, you work off a RAID NAS. Cloud storage is for offsite redundant backup.

Well, I was experimenting off of working off of cloud storage. While this works great for my small stuff it doesn't for the big stuff. The part I like about working off the cloud is I can conceivably use any computer with the same software as I have and an internet connection to work.

Makes working from home a bit easier and less of a hassle.

I live in the midwest and whenever I hear about all this cloud stuff this is what comes to mind and I'd just as soon leave it alone.

Just wanted to update. The service is great however, the initial synching of my files has been taking a while. Right now I am at just about 28 hours and only half way through. I am only backing up 13 gigs currently.

And is exactly why this type of s3rvice is a wasted of time and money.

A simple in house back up system will do all that invisibly on a regular basis. Then when you really need it you can reload your system in about 20 minutes.

I just charged a client for 11 hours over 3 days of restore work because he used an online system instead of the in house system he was advised to use.. His bizz was down for THREE frigin days.

And then. That info is not secured private unless you use a bablefish encryption scheme. IF some think this security deal is no big deal just read about the major hakcings going on with major bank credit card systems.

IT is false economy. And it is a rip off. And it it is not "all that.

I had an in house backup system it smacked the floor from a height of 12 inches and completely failed. This at least I know won't fail that easily.

Love it. No hiccups - just the first upload was long. However I did it over a weekend, and now have it set to auto backup every night. Super easy. Very secure. I can access files from anywhere (which is nice when on location with a client and my ipad).

Just wanted to update this thread on my experience with the Online File Folder from DomainsPricedRight (GoDaddy Affliate) after using the tools they provide to access my files from the cloud. I have learned that in my office its not the most efficient due to my internet connection here. At home where I have comcast at 24mbs all to myself it works great.

My solution has been to simply copy the files over to my work computer and set it for a daily sync/backup at the end of the day.

This allows me to access my necessary files faster when I am working and have the knowledge that if I decide to work from home I will have access to the same files completely updated.

I am not sure this is the best method available but, I do know it was fairly easy to setup, its low cost, and I get great customer support. I hope whoever reads this finds this information useful.

I use sugarsync but it is setup a little different. I have my data folder the same on multiple computers (Design, laptops etc) . When you save a file it saves to the local drive and syncs to the cloud in the background. It then syncs to the other computers that are setup.

Still not the ideal solution because with all the file changes going on during the day it puts a hit on the network. I just schedule it after hours or manually when needed.

The great thing about this setup is my laptop always has my working files even if I don't have an internet connection. I can also access files on my phone/ipad.
