Has anyone ever had feed encoder probs?

I am back to fighting a banding problem. The last time I changed profiles
and got a temp reprieve- the VP540 is 4 years old and does a lot of printing
so I am going thru and checking everything that might make an old machine
unhappy. Seems line the feed encoder (on the left end of the grit roller)
could cause similar problems as the linear encoder but I have never heard
it mentioned. I just replaced the linear and got to thinking about the feed.
When I cleaned it I got a lot of crud off. Thanks Gene

It can get dirty and affect the feed calibration. Clean it just like the other encoder with alcohol and it should be fine. Had one a while back that had a small glob of crud on it and it threw the whole print and cut accuracy way off. Cleaned it and everything was back to good!

As I said I changed the linear scale yesterday and then didn't print
anything and overnight thought about the feed encoder and cleaned
that before I printed anything but... one of them seems to have solved
the problem. I hope. Thanks Gene

I am trying to locate a feed encoder (not sure the propper name) on the older CJ 500 model.

Where was yours and what did it look like? Was it a round shape?

Thanks for the input.
