Ironically, that's exactly how I feel about what you're saying. On this subject, sadly there is minimal middle ground. I prefer to find middle ground on most subjects. I generally think there is some sort of reasonable compromise in most situations.

Statistics prove that Americas system costs the most and is not a world leader by any metric. Our thought process and our way of doing things is failing. It's time to accept this and start stealing ideas from those that are doing better than us. Those are countries that have socialized health care.

The reality of 100% government controlled and administered health care is the VA. Every president in my lifetime has claimed he will fix the broken system. Still waiting. These are the administrators and processes that will run national healthcare in the USA.

When I was about 16 and getting on my Dad's insurance, so I could drive a car, my Dad's insurance man said, well Mr Gino's Dad, the reason your son's insurance is high is because he is young and a male and they just have more accidents. As he gets older, it will go down. However, just a few years later, No Fault came about and also, there was an influx of people driving with no insurance, so my insurance hadda cover all of those naysayers not having insurance, just in case. As more and more of this took place, my insurance gradually rose. It's also in the medical field.... as more and more people who never paid one penny into the system got FREE Health Care. In fact moving right along, as more and more free-loaders came into this country, the money I worked hard for was given to these people, not only health and car insurance, but food stamps and all kindsa other benefits, which I wasn't entitled to, seeing how I WORKED in this country for a living. Now, it's become a normal process and no one seems to care, that in order to get voters into this country we just give away the farm. You can thank just about each and every politician for that in the last 50 years and all you people with your heads in the sand saying, nope it ain't happening. The government will figure this out. We just hafta wait until they figure it out. My government is great, but it is not designed or capable of providing all these free handouts on the backs of our working class. Not at all.

Honestly, I'm glad I'm older and on my way out, so I don't hafta see this great country go the route some of you want it to go. Not at all what I was taught growing up as a son, student in school and college or in Church. This place is becoming stranger and stranger by the minute.

I'm still waiting for one person who disagrees with rossmosh, you, myself or anyone else who has posted about the real world reasons why a better system needs to be created to refute anything we've stated with factual data, evidence or facts.

This whole 50's throwback John Birch Society, McCarthyist, Cold War, christo-nationalist, paranoid prepper angle being presented has me completely baffled about our future as a people trying to wade through a $25 trillion dollar national debt, millions of baby boomers on the verge of retirement, climate change, the potential for over 1 BILLION climate related refugees, a changing work life via automation and AI, an increasingly diverse population and many other issues that might trigger these folks.

You are correct those that preach their communism bulls*it think of it as damn religion that they need to force onto others. We don't care what they believe, just don't use the force of government to impose it on others. Almost everything else we buy is based on the free market, even the most essential thing, food. Why is our purchase of health care not based on free market principles. We put more junk in our bodies and are less carful with our bodies then we do in our autos. Why is that? The consequences of what we due to our autos we have to pay for. The consequences of what we do to our bodies, who pays for that. And how many people really care what it cost when someone else has to pay for it. Just imagine if everything else we wanted we could get that way.

Lets ignore federal crop insurance, federal purchasing of crops to keep prices level, patents granted by the govt for seeds, ethanol requirements in gas, meat inpsection, grading criteria, food labeling requirements, food storage standards, packaging requirements, ingredient listings.... should I go on? I said it before, there is no such thing as a pure form of government or economic model anywhere in the world, it simply does not work. This is economics 101.
