Hello from Wisconsin

Hello all,

I own a engraving shop, Glass with Class, in northern Wisconsin. I do most of my work with a YAG laser from Electrox but also have a couple CO2 lasers from Universal that sit and gather dust and I have been looking for jobs I can do on them and by dumb luck stumbled into making signs for a factory next door to me. And when I was researching engraving plastics I came across this site.

Since getting the job making signs I have been playing around with making signs for myself out of plexiglass that I pant the backside white then reverse engrave through the white paint and then color fill the engraving with other colors. I am just wondering if anyone else has tried this method of making signs and if so how well it stands up to being outside.

i don't have any experience with engraving, but if you start another thread with an engraving question in the title, you'll have better luck.

greetings from racine, wi!

i'd imagine you're reverse-engraving method will hold up just fine. plexi and paint hold up just fine outdoors. use mechanical fasteners, as adhesives will only have the strength of the bond between the paint/plexi.
