I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance!

I just bought a VP-540i. I have Windows 7 Home Premium.

Versaworks loaded fine (I believe) but my computer will not recognize the printer.

Is this because of Home Premium?

Thanks!

I guess I thought I changed the IP on the printer to match the computer, but it still won't recognize it.

Not familiar with the printer but I do know networking. The ip, if static, should not be the same on both machines. If your computer is 10.0.1.10 make your printer 10.0.1.11 and the subnet mask on both to 255.255.255.0

Restart both

You can check connectivity at a cmd prompt on the computer. Type "ping <printer ip address>"

Make sure when you set the Ip on the printer you hit enter and go back to the home screen on the printer.

versa and your printer are not connected properly. i had the exact same issue when i had to reinstall my os on a new hard drive. i ended up phoning roland tech support and they walked me through it.

Hello 49,

If you register your printer, you can get access to the webinar archive. There are several intro to VersaWork webinars that may be of help. http://www.rolanddga.com/training/webinar/archive/videos.asp

Also, check out our support page. There is access to installation guide and it reviews hooking up to a network starting on Page 40.

There are also sp[ecific instructions on how ti connect using Windows 7:

Just because Windows Home Premium works NOW doesnt mean it won't give you problems. I love the statement "but it worked before"..ever see those "log off and install updates" when you go to shut down Windows...well those updates could bring you to the "it no longer works" stage.

Most signs are pointing to an IP address, but dont rule out that Windows7 could be the culprit. Roland's Support clearly states NO under Home Premium being supported.
