Is this movie download site really legal? They want money for the service. How do they do it if it isn't legit?

I got the same message when I tried to watch from here (Guam).
Instead of trying to tell them Guam is a real part of the USA I gave them my old stateside address as part of the sign-up and it streamed fine after that.....

Get a proxy server and you can get anything you want that is blocked from other places.

It never occured to me to sign up for netflix or Hulu with a proxy server. Good tip.
So about this Hippo place.... how can I tell if it's bogus? Just because it said it's legal? (actually I didn't notice that statement on the site)

just from looking at the quality of the screenshots, I'd say it's a pirate site with the movies being offered cams of the movies.

Seems like they skate around the issue. I would say it's not legal or the movie houses would be doing it too.

Not to mention their domain ownership is hidden by proxy.

The domain ownership is hidden because the company is outside of the USA, hence it's "legal" to them as they can't be prosecuted for it that way. You, on the other hand can get into trouble for downloading them. Their site will get shut down someday (maybe today or 5 years from now) by the RIAA or similar, but not before they make tons of $$$ & run with it from people who think "I read it on the internet so it must be true" about their "legalality".
