HO HO HO! Who's sending cards this year?

I'm gonna continue sending cards to my 25 main clients. And I'm going to continue getting pissed off when i don't get one from from any of my three biggest suppliers.

We used to get enough cards every year to fill up a card holder. This year i'll be shocked if I get 10.

I love Christmas Cards!

...while I don't own a shop to do company cards, my wife and I send out a mitt full of personal cards every year. I've picked up a few freelance jobs because of it... and that usually pays for the cost of the cards. A now annual job of designing and printing holiday cards for one customer, bought my personal computer last year.

It also give me the opportunity to try out different printing effects, assemblies, and cuts. I then use those as samples through out the year.

We've gotten on a run of goofy dog cards the past couple years. This year I'm experimenting with a lenticular card. I think I might have this animation backwards, but this is the effect:

I'm really surprised that more shops don't do cards. It's such an unobtrusive way to get your name on the top of your customer's mind... that hangs around the office longer than any other direct marketing piece.

Moreover, some of the places I frequent, tape the cards to the wall as they come in. Even that sure seems like a good opportunity to put a logo on the front of the card and get some exposure as well as some good will points.

...but that's my .o2

Best o' the season to you and yours!

Since this is my first year in business as myself, I'll be sending out gift cards to the sign companies that have used my services. I couldn't have made it through my first year without them, so my gifts aren't holiday-related, they're just a way of showing my appreciation to them for choosing and continuing to use me. I've made sure to inquire throughout the year as to what they're interests are so that I can tailor the cards to each individual.
