I love Christmas Cards!
...while I don't own a shop to do company cards, my wife and I send out a mitt full of personal cards every year. I've picked up a few freelance jobs because of it... and that usually pays for the cost of the cards. A now annual job of designing and printing holiday cards for one customer, bought my personal computer last year.
It also give me the opportunity to try out different printing effects, assemblies, and cuts. I then use those as samples through out the year.
We've gotten on a run of goofy dog cards the past couple years. This year I'm experimenting with a lenticular card. I think I might have this animation backwards, but this is the effect:
I'm really surprised that more shops don't do cards. It's such an unobtrusive way to get your name on the top of your customer's mind... that hangs around the office longer than any other direct marketing piece.
Moreover, some of the places I frequent, tape the cards to the wall as they come in. Even that sure seems like a good opportunity to put a logo on the front of the card and get some exposure as well as some good will points.
...but that's my .o2
Best o' the season to you and yours!
