Hot and Cold Laminators?

What is the difference between a hot and cold laminator? Or a cold laminator with heat assist? If I purchased a larger format printer and did a lot of automotive type applications, which would I need? I'm looking at buying a Roland SP300V with a 38" Daige cold laminator from a guy... is that a sufficient laminator for my needs?

Daige laminator is 110% junk. You can always use it for an anchor, it's about all it's good for.

Well darn. What about hot and cold laminators? Which do I really need?

The difference between HOT and COLD laminators, besides the obvious is the cost of the laminates. COLD laminates typically are 2 to 3 times MORE expensive than comparable low-temp laminates. COLD laminators will be less expensive than HOT laminators to purchase.

For what your looking to do I would go with a cold laminator.
