Its 97 outside and 89 in my office right now. AC is not working and cant get anyone here until Thursday.

The shop usually gets in the high 80's during the summer and it doesnt bother me that much but the office has no air movement.

How hot does your shop usually get?

Feels like its about 80F maybe high 70s. Small room with low ceiling between the warehouse in back and cubes in front that gets heated like its a big open space. Not much environmental control here and I leave my doors to the warehouse open otherwise it would suck that much more.

So is that really you in your avatar?

Heat index here is 96f - office is close to 80 or so with the AC units pushing hard. By lunch it will be nice and warm inside and out.

Call someone else.
I hear Trane is a great company.
I usually fix it myself , and everyone else's too.
Good luck with that.

Trane is what I use out in the tack room at the barn. Works great. Only bad thing is those filters are cost a pretty penny. They last a good long while, but they do cost when it's time to get new ones.

really hot.
we set up a swamp cooler last summer. lowers it like 20 degrees.. it;s heavenly.

I have a replacement portable swamp coming for the shop area which works wonders but the office is what is killing me right now.

I have called all 3 places that work on commercial ac (small town) and none can get here until Thursday. If my mother in law and her husband were still living here, it wouldn't be a problem. He is one of the best AC guys I have ever met. Everything else he does looks like crap or breaks really easy. But AC work is his bread and butter. Helps that he worked in Phoenix on AC's for ever.

I keep our office area and print room at 78 during the day and set 82 when we're not here. Any lower than 78 and I get cold. It's all relative of course. Florida summers average low 90's.

Spent one whole summer in the office/shop without an air conditioner. It stayed 88-92 for about three months.

Now.....72 degrees year round.

I never saw one of them swamp coolers either, how much they cost? and does it save on electric?

Swamp Coolers/Evaporative Coolers are way cheaper to run. As long as you live in a dryer climate. In high humidity areas all you will be doing is adding to the humidity in the air and not really cool your space. Here the average humidity leval during the summer is around 7% so the swamps work perfect around here. That is until August/September during Monsoon season. Then they just put more humidity into the air and not so much cooling.

I have one of these coming for the shop area:

My shop area is only around 650 SF but I figure I can use this when I move to a bigger place as well.
