I'm having an issue that nobody has been able to solve. If there are any HP specialists out there please bear with me and see if you can come up with possible fixes.
Our 5000ps started taking a long time (5 mins.) to initialize on startup. It would eventually get to the ready screen and allow us to print. After about one week of this it gave us the following error code on startup:
odoooo o33f01ad
According to the HP web site this is a continuable error and it means the printer does not have any media profiles loaded. Solution to this is update the firmware and get the profiles back.
Here's the main problem - as soon as we got this error (we'd press enter after the error code came up to continue) the printer would tell us to replace the printheads. I've taken them out and put them right back in and the printer shows "ok" for all printheads until we close the front cover and then it goes right back to "replace printheads".
I took the printeads out and put them in another HP and they were fine so this eliminates the printheads.
We are not able to get to the ready screen to update the firmware so I ordered a new hard drive from HP. This way the newest firmware would already be installed. I installed the hard drive and the exact same thing happened.
I talked with a couple HP techs I know and they leaned towards the carriage assembly or the main board. Both of these are expensive so I don't want to just start replacing parts without knowing for sure if they have failed.
One thing I did notice is the trailing cable has a nick/worn spot in the insulation where it was rubbing on the drive belt clip. Could this cause the problem we're having?
