HP spindle gear

Hi,
The gear has fallen off my spindle, the screws are inside the pole. Someone told me to take the silver "pin" out to take it apart but the "pin" is threaded like a screw and has no screw head it's just hallow. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Yeah, that's not a screw, it's a spring pin. Look up a youtube video for 'how to remove a spring pin'. They can be a pain, especially since this one is embedded in plastic.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I removed the spring pin, wondering what is next to be able to get to the screws behind the gear? I removed the two screws, but that seems to hold on the round plastic roll holder together. How would I remove the gear from the metal tube? I tried hitting it, and just broke a piece off the plastic...

I don't think there's anything else, you just pull it out.

a little heat (from heat gun on low, or hair dryer on high - no flame!) may help expand the metal and make the plastic slightly more pliable while you remove it - a long shaft inserted from the other end to push the plastic cap out should help too -- it is likely very tight as it has to transfer enough torque from the plastic to the whole spindle to turn a full roll....
