HP360 Latex doesn't print to center

Dammit, make it faster!!
When printing a 38" x 96" banner on our previous printer on 38" banner stock you'd get a prompt saying it doesn't fit (won't do edge to edge printing) and you could hit ok and let it print anyway. Worked out great as the left and right cut lines are omitted from the print and the banner will have a 1" hem thus making it 36". Makes for two less lines to cut.

Now with our new HP360 printer it doesn't print to the center of the 38" banner stock. It always prints it offset no matter what.

Any ideas?

p.s. using Flexi Production Manager 12

some possible ideas

I use Onyx and it takes the exact page size from the printer and uses it - i.e if the media width is 54.07" as read by the printer on loading - Onyx will import this exact 54.07" page size and use this as the page size you can print to. It will also allow you to select the margins you need - to avoid the media guides, to print right to or even over the edge which is all good.

However on earlier versions it wasn't that smart and could only use page sizes that were already entered as default page sizes in the rip. eg it had a 54" and a 56" page size in its memory. Then when you loaded a 54.07" roll the rip just selected the next size up as it was (just) wider than 54".

So if you have 54" media loaded but the rip has selected a slightly bigger size then you can send files that will print but are clipped as in your graphic.

If you are sure the rip is absolutely selecting the correct page size then the only other idea could be margins.

You cannot send a 38" image to a 38" roll if you have margins that are automatically used - some rips wont print and some will print but will clip.

I don't know your rip but hopefully you will have full control over your margins like you do in Onyx and can reduce them so you can get true edge-to-edge printing?
