HS 15 Plus plotter question

A friend has an old HS 15 Plus Gerber Plotter and needs some info. I only ran mine on Gerber software so I can't help her. Is there a program that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that will that she can download to set up copy and can run the plotter besides Omega?

She can get a flexi subscription if she just wants to try. I'm not sure if a generic HPGL driver will work on it or not. I do know that the cable for it is special, so she would need to get one from Gerber and probably get a USB to Serial adapter (I use a Keyspan adapter with no problems.)

SignLab works well. They have a very basic version around $500, I believe.
