Hi there - I am trying to get some foil cards from 4Over, but I just recently signed up with them and cannot get the Akuafoil cards yet and was curious to see if someone could help out with placing an order for me (they are for our shop - not a customer). I can get the art together, etc. Just need to get a quote and place an order.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance and time.

Thanks for the response -
We're looking for (2) 1,000 card sets of either 5:5 or 5:1.
The back of the card is just in K right now - but there is an alternative design if the 5:5 is the right price...???

DID YOU LOOK AT THE GENERAL F&Q?
there is some reading to do to set it up correctly.

i myself haven't done them, but since i got the pop on it, i have been interested in doing them for myself..... when i get the time that is

I know from previous discussions with management @ 4 over that they monitor Signs 101,with that said hopefully they recognize how many members here utilize their services & recommend them on a nearly basis & they should consider suporting this site .. Just a thought. But here is my question.

it sure would be nice if someone from 4 over explained their logic in making certain products only available to those who meet their tier requirements or whatever terminology they utilize for this strange hierarchy they have developed.

in my way of thinking every product that they 'offer' but don't allow their customers to purchase would not encourage me to spend more money faster to have that 'ability' but rather it would make me find another provider (and there are many..they are not the only game in town by a long shot) & everytime one of their customers goes to their competition they are risking losing that customer to a wholesale provider that will supply them with the products that they need.

is it just me or does this model appear flawed? I don't understand why you would encourage customers to seek out your competition for products that they do offer..just to 'select' customers...bizarre business model imo

I completely agree! I called them today to ask how much you have to spend, etc to achieve the correct level and wasn't given anything of any substance. When I asked her if she gets this type of complaint a lot she said "It comes up from time to time"... Which I find hard to believe (but who am I to say) - I would think it would come up daily!

So I went over to 4over4.com which has a similar product - but I don't know how to compare the pricing. It is VERY frustrating and quite frankly, to me anyway, seemingly rude.

My wife and I made the comparison that if a customer were to walk in today wanting a set of channel letters or something of the sort - we should make them purchase 100 coroplast signs, a sandblasted sign and some window graphics FIRST....Then maybe we can talk about channel letters.....Seems CRAZY to me!!!!

I run my business how I please and if my potential clients do not like it, they can go somewhere else.....Free country, right?.....

{Feeling like I'm in elementary school defending myself against the old "free country" retort again}

Yeah it is. But what are you saying here? Are you really saying you won't do a high dollar job for someone without doing some smaller work first?

I just was treated with the same type of Elitist attitude from 4Over.
They turned away a project which was over $10,000 wholesale because I wasn't high enough on their multi tier system.
At first I was more than pissed off.

I then put the project out for bids to three other trade only sources and lo and behold ALL three trade printers where considerably lower in price than 4 Over.

Thank you 4 Over.
I have found several new and better trade sources. You have provided a great service to me at least. I won't be calling you in the near future.

The explanation is listed under Loyalty Program on the header bar.

When I was first introduced to 4over, it was with the instructions: DON'T TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS, 'CUZ IT'LL F THE MARKET...

9 years later, the market is F'd for color work --- and I didn't even tell anyone.

I kinda buy into the program and wish it was more stringent. I see it as a modest effort to try and maintain itself as a Trade Only vendor and "force" sales to their site. I think it's a great strategy. I don't know if there is tiered pricing for the different levels, but that would be awesome!

I'll save the rant of how my 400% market-up has been compromised by a plethora of end-users, hack-brokers, and out-of-industry buyers trashing the print industry with sites of this ilk --- it's pretty much the same lament many threads on Signs 101 follow discussing how this industry has been trashed.

Based on the tone I've read about brokers on Signs 101, there's not many that like doing work for them. However, I've made a crap-load of money off of brokers. And like 4over, I've structured pricing for each based on experience in supplying workable art, dollars spent and payment history. Again, I think it's a great model.

PLUS!!! They get paid 100% up front....So what's the worry!?? ...

Is that an awesome business model or what? ...and the worry is futzing around with someone that isn't trained to their way of doing business --- which I imagine is anything that slows their turn time.

But even there I don't really understand. It is all automated and online - so when you send it in they are certainly not responsible for mistakes, misalignment, etc.. In other words, there is nothing to slow up. IMO

The only thing that I could even maybe begin to think about is bandwidth usage. But there again - you only upload the art AFTER payment, so that little bit of bandwidth that you DID use should already be covered in their costs???...

Oh...But yes - it is a great business model in regards to 100% up front. I wish I could do this, but with people already asking to split payments into 33%/33%/33% instead of 50/50, I doubt it would fly in my area.

I understand teird pricing, buy more save more
but....
teird buying?
I can't fathem why one has to buy more of one product before being able to buy another.
I would think it would be easier to use them and for them to make more money by having all their merchandice available to all their clientel. I do see the incentive on the teired pricing for regenerative business.

Art! Hot and fresh.
I don't even bother with 4over ... i use a few wholesalers that are about 25% cheaper than 4over for their basic stuff and even if i'm in a pinch I can get it done at overnight prints easier than 4over with no issues. Some people love them, some people hate them ... hell, I'm just glad my customers are coming to me for their business card designs and not just doing them on vistaprints for free with free (but crappy) printing.
