Ideas for family reunion banner?

OK this is what I just came up with in 10 minutes.
Does it suck out loud?
Haven't had a lot of time for myself lately.

It's just a bit of vector art and a surfer font.

I'm thinking the colors look weird now that I posted it.

It's just a surfboard, I didn't have any surfboard clip arts.
I was thinking of using a tiki but that's a bit too far west.

I should think a surfboard would be more recognizable as such if it's show in use. Just sitting there it more resembles a Flash Gordon era spaceship landing on its tail.

I actually like the colors in the first one better. Not fond of the color of the surf board in the second set.

I had the colors as green and yellow but all I see is corn now.
And I had this red and yellow reversed but then it looked like a hot dog.

I wanted to add a tagline but didn't feel there was room on this small decal (everyone will get one) I'll add something on the banner.

I like that one! Colors work much better.

I think I'd eliminate the scroll work [both yellow and magenta] in the background. Paisley was more associated with the time-era you're depicting. Also, I'd bring the date in front of the board.

I left the scrolls on the surfboard to make it less corn like.

Is this better?

I like this except for the sand color. It should be a nice beige/ivory sand color.
