Just use up a $5 roll of masking tape! Beats driving back to the shop.
Nice move. You've just offended all the special people out there.....That is called "special rigging", I used the word special to replace a derogatory word that would offend people.
Tex always brings his Agame on installations.
I have gotten that call. Also the "You sold me a reused sign panel", when their installer didn't remove the printed factory protective film from the back side. There's another way to forget application tape. We did some prints for another shop that were print/cut to go on an electric sign face. We used clear plastic application tape for easier registration. Their installer went out and put them up in the field. A couple of months later I got a phone call that the laminate was peeling off our print and they wanted us to redo it. After a little discussion with the other owner on the phone I determined that their installer hadn't taken the application tape off when he was done. I didn't have to reprint...
It's painters tape, not masking tape, right? Frog tape? Not ideal, but in that pinch should work fine. Obviously it worked or you wouldn't be posting about it.It went find and the tape pulled up easy. Saved myself a 15 min. drive each direction if I went back.
Similar story, we hired a union guy to install a 10ft x 10ft Entertainment calendar in a casino. This is back before PSA lam prices came down and thermal was much more popular. Long story short, he peeled the lam off of the prints because he thought it was a protective liner. Only him and I knew about it...There's another way to forget application tape.
