Illy CS2 envelope issues

We're printing a banner that was created in Illy CS2 and we came across a problem with the text. We added the text, used "envelope/distort" on the text to give it an arc and now the text is printing with a box around it that is printing out darker. When you select the text, there is also a box around it. How do we fix this?

dont use illy much,, but,, convert it to curves?

Alot of the filters and stuff won't be parsed right un-expanded by other pieces of software even if they have support of illustrator files.
