It's cause they're billing hourly. I'd rather flat rate the job.
That's not what I'm talking about and besides many people on this site only need to be out in a bucket for 2 or 3 hours or on site doing something a few hours. What I'm saying is..... you go out with employee #1 for exactly 3 hours from departure til you're back, unless you charge for loading and unloading the truck, but you on site 3 hours. A day later you take employee #2 and are site the SAME amount of time. How do you justify 2 different costs, if questioned ??

People do it all the time...and in other trades. Electrician apprentice charges less than a master. Sign industry can do the same for less skilled employees.

I assume that the client pays the same amount, the difference is for the employer. That instead of paying $80 an hour he will pay $60 and by using less qualified labor he is responsible if the work is not the same.
