Politics flying around in here, lately ??

No problem with politics, but there is so much baseless information, silly one-sided links and just plain dumb thinking. I don't care if ya have the same thoughts as me or totally opposite. It's the amount of the same ol' same ol' all the time. Does anyone think any of its gonna make a change ?? Especially on a sign forum??

I'm all about versatile conversation and great discussions, but these brow busting techniques are just unworthy of you. If you can't say what you mean, do you really think some one-sided articles are gonna change anyone's mind ?? If you cannot put these things into your own words, ya might as well not say anything at all.

Just my view on it lately. Maybe it would be different, if someone would admit they're wrong when proven beyond a doubt, instead of changing the subject and beating a dead horse....... or cow.

All I know is I'm going to the Trump rally in Milwaukee tomorrow with my two sons! The economy is great! My 401K is great! People are buying new vehicles left and right and they need them lettered! We got snow last night so I can finally take out the snowmobile I bought with my sign making money! Life is great! I have no complaints!

This right here ^^^^. I'd like to add that folks have been buying yachts, boats and personal watercraft at record rates. I've been super busy the last couple years lettering them. Six on the books already with more coming.

I like this new normal compared to what we were told to get used to a few years back.

As was accurately pointed out on another post, this is General Chit-Chat so I guess if someone wants to discuss the unrest in Hong Kong or Middle East or whatever, they can, but is S101 really the place?

My two-cents is that it's much more interesting and pertinent to our shared interests to focus on politics that directly affects the sign business (taxes, regulation, business policy etc). But it's clear from the posts that most just want yet another place to express their political opinions and the conversations quickly turn from a cursory nod to the effects on business to bashing the other person's politics, direct attacks on the other party's leadership, or on the person posting. Fun for some, but not my cup of tea. Plenty of other places for that. But hey, this is General chit-chat so the right place for my opinion, correct?

You got it wrong..... or maybe I worded it wrong. I have no problem talking and/or discussing politics here or anywhere else.

I'm not trying to set new rules or tell anyone how to act or talk, but more about, why do so many people put these worthless links up ?? Do they think anyone is gonna read them and suddenly say..... ya know, you're positively right.

Sounds like these old commercials..... who here rememebrs this sh!t ??

No problem here. We each choose how we want to spend our time. For me, while on S101 I would rather spend it talking biz, learning from others how i can run my biz more effectively, helping another owner occasionally. So if someone else chooses to spend their time on politics, that's time I'm missing out on what they may have to say on something that actually useful and of benefit to me and others. In fact, already spending too much time here...

I agree, the problem with political discussion most of the time is a failure to respect differing opinions. Too many times people treat political discussion like a football game with winners and losers.

Ya know Zs...... I'm actually politiced out. This stuff is being rammed down our throats by both sides and even other countries. I listen to both sides of the fence on television. Television only. Newspapers are really biased and basically, so is television. It's hard to find the simple truth, so it's easier to just live your life, get along with your neighbors and just shut the f*ck up when politics come up..... or religion. However, a place like this, s101, can be a place to hear other opinions and sides of the story, but with all the frickin' yelling and brow beating here, it's not a good place to speak with alike minded people. The country is so polarized, most people cannot speak without any venom in the accusations or deliveries. Being that we are all sign people, you would think we could discuss or even debate, but nope, that's out.... cause ya don't think like the other guy. So, those links I was referring to are about as worthless as Anne Franks' drumset.

Yea me too, going to think more of my fellow man, get a sex change to be more part of the LGBT community. Become a socialist and not fly planes or drive cars that use fossil fuels. Hate the rich and give all my money to a Muslim progressive, don't stand for the Star Spangled Banner and denounce our leaders who go after terrorists or tariffs.
And last but not least, volunteer my services to answer 911 calls to become a better typer so I can read things on the web and copy/paste them for people to learn.
