JV3 Black Printing issue (with photos) **NEED HELP**

Hey everyone!
I posted a thread yesterday but haven't gotten any feedback. So I've posted some photos and a description of what I've done here. Looking to figure this issue out with all of your help.

I had let my machine sit for a week without printing (yes, big mistake). So I had some jobs to print. But when I started printed, I noticed the black was printing very greyish color and not a good true 'black'.

I've soaked the heads multiple times at different times lengths (10 minutes up to 99 minutes), did the syringe trick, tried to clear & clean the lines.

At first I was thinking it was an issue w/ the head. But when I turn the resolution up to 720x1440, the black prints fine (just very heavy and wet).

Here's what I'm getting when I run a test. The magenta, cyan, and yellow are all fine, black doesn't show up (sometimes it's better than this though, but still not good).

Has anyone had this issue before? I haven't messed with any settings whatsoever on the computer, so I don't believe that's an issue.

Please let me know, I'm stressing out!

DIY Printer Fixing Guide
If the pump is not clogged and there is no air in the ink lines, I would start with a capping station. It sounds like you can get the black to come back a little bit so I don't think it's electrical. Also, you could have issues with the bulk system. I would call the manufacturer and see if they have any troubleshooting tips that deal with the bulk system.

I have 1 side back to printing. Here's my 'test print'. Why would only one side be printing? And what can I do to fix? IMG_20140804_200831211.jpg

quick fix to try.

1. Power off machine.
2. remove back cover allowing access to pumps.
3. Remove black ink line from wast botlle.
4. Using a syringe or other means draw ink through line.
5. Replace ink line in waste bottle and try running a test.

I noticed that over time my ink lines have worn where the pumps constantly cycle around and have slightly adjusted them to aid here as well. Usually a quick suction of ink though does the trick.

Then I just clean as normal if needed.

It's possible that the manifold is broken. The manifold is where the damper connects to the head. Sometimes the nipple breaks and causes air to get into the system which causes the ink to now flow. Use a bright flash light to check the manifold and also check inside the bottom of the damper for any black plastic that may have come off the manifold into the damper.

Also, makes sure there is no air in the ink line above that side of the black head. If the damper is letting air in, that would cuase one side not to print as well.

+1 on what Nuagedesigns said. Sometimes the maintenance system needs a jump start.

i had that problem i had to empty all the ink from my bulk system (just on the colors your having problems with) fill it up with cleaner run a few ink fills through the lines dampers head and capping station after you have done that print solid black item with the cleaner in there just to push the cleaner through the heads empty the cleaner fill back up with ink and do a few ink fills you should be good to go.
