Knifeless Tape

Hey! Dental floss and masking tape! Very clever. Who would have guessed it would cut vinyl cleanly?
Fifty cents a foot is a bit steep though.... It wouldn't take a genius to make up a tape winding jig. A drill press and a paint roller, some clamps......

Maybe it's Spider Wire fishing line?

should have my roll tomorrow. i like the possibility of use around window edges rather than that stupid edge knife thing we bought for $40 that sucks.

should be faster and easier to cut back 1/8-1/4" of the perf for lam tape.

Yeah, that thing sucks. It becomes too awkward on half the angles anyway.

We use a similar product in our Rhino Lining Spray In Bedliner business. Only the wire is much thicker for Rhino. This stuff probably has its purposes, but you will have to make an upsell, you can't eat the cost of this stuff on a wrap job.

The makers of the bedliner wire tape just came out with a new product called PaintLine which works on thinner materials than the bedliner products, including wrap vinyl. Cheaper the Knifeless tape too: http://www.langeman.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=31

Has anyone used this brand yet? I am wanting to buy some, not sure if i should go with the brand name or try this stuff, I don't want to make the mistake of trying to safe money and get something that is useless

Thanks for posting this!

we use the knifeless tape in our shop, love it, great for truck cab/box's and to "trim" along body lines, we use it all the time on our matte finish wraps as well for detailed areas

Used WrapCut on this bumper wrap we did last week. Worked great, as usual :)

Customer wanted to show some of the chrome as an accent, so WrapCut made that pretty easy.

So is Knifeless Technologoies and WrapCut the same company or different?

No, we are two separate companies with separate product offerings. I was referring to our original PaintLine product that was the precursor to WrapCut. I wanted to ensure that the most up to date information was available to the forum, as I was unable to edit my original post and put a corrected link.

WrapCut Fine Filament Edge Cutting Tape can be found at http://www.wrapcut.com

I hope I have cleared things up!

Just finished a job with it. Was going over old painted lines on a boat's flybridge.
The stripes tapered wider as the went, but they actually also got narrower as they went around the front of the flybridge and became sloped more.
Used the tape along each edge of the stripes, layed oversized vinyl on wet (no app. tape) felt squeegee and voila peeled the line out and it gave me a perfect edge.

Awesome stuff for certain applications.
