What good does banning do? Can you not just re-register under another user name?

Others have tried & failed one claimed he had tons of ips since he was a web designer I guess his tons were more like ten ?

i find it kinda odd that the guy who started the sexy pic post, and has an avitar that references the hell raiser movie which is a sado-masochistic movie is the one who is calling for someone to be banned.

1. My avatar is not from Hellraiser, although I do have Pinhead from Hellraiser tattooed on my arm.

2. The reason I called for his banning is that Posting pornography
is not acceptable here on 101 . . . !

If his post was an accident which I doubt, than I'm sorry,
but My starting of the Christmas gift thread was done so
with the most light hearted of intent, not to have it be pillaged
and then deleted all together for inappropriate content.

The new rules are excellent!

Thumbnails are preferred by many.

Sometimes the thumbnail is enough to see if you're in a hurry & can get the jist of it from a small image... other times the thumbnail is worth clicking on ONE time... but then returning to the thread for days, doesn't require waiting for, or wading through multiple previously seen images when they have been loaded as thumbnails.

I just came from another site where this has happened.

The poster had added an innocent picture to his post (a Jackolope) and somehow it turned out extremely pornographic. he never knew about it until the "Vigilantes" started screaming to ban him for life and give him 200 lashes before hanging him.

I have also had ny nick hacked in order to really badmouth someone, when the hacker didn't have the guts to use his own nick.

OK, that makes since, but was wondering if someone could post a step by step tutorial on how to do option #2

Uploading to the photo gallery and then using the uploaded image for image placement in your post.


? once uploaded to the gallery, do you copy the URL address, then use that yellow icon that looks like there is a mountain in it, (insert image), or something else?

? on the gallery page, it says file size is unlimited, but don't I need to keep those file sizes under a certain size so when inserted into a post it doesn't "Wack It" into a Giant off the screen size?


I would much rather have a full size picture rather than a thumb nail that people have to do the extra step of clicking on, and then waiting for a new window to open up. I just need someone to tell me how to do it so, if you have a moment, please type away.

Option 2 works very well because the Photo Gallery, unlike the forum software, resizes evry upload image down to acceptable sizes. If the original is larger than 800 x 800 pixels, the uploaded images will be an 800 x 800, a 400 x 400 and a thumbnail. The 400 x 400 has a path for posting it in the information under the photo. Just copy and paste into the Image Insert feature (that's the icon you mentioned) in a post and you have a very nicely sized image for most users here.

look ... I don't know who you are or where you came from ... but you remind of the newbie firefighter that joins the fire department and knows everything in the first week.

Rep is a good guy ....... and has an excellent history on s101. If he started the thread ... there is a reason. Rep aside, the thread is good because it addresses potential problems (or current) that can be quelled ... and this subject should be addressed whether it was a mistake or intentional.

Your rebuttal regarding the avatar rep has is not even a close comparison to subject matter.

Your private message was not necessary ... we can discuss this in an open forum.

well many Americans considering things as porn that are readily allowed in other countries have seen many a discussion on nudity being Porn. America needs to get out of the Holier than thou mindset where nudity is Porn. I recieved an email from a friend about being careful of internet ordering. supposed to order a "Blow Up Doll" & recieveda nude lovely female with a belt made of C4 one of the list that recieved that email blew their top about pornography, she was nude but no way Pornographic my .02

Well sorry about that Rep.

A pornographic photo of a woman performing Fellatio was posted for all to see. Your thread was an open invitation for such a thing and was borderline at best for a sign maker's forum. I was monitoring it for several hours and was alerted to it by email complaints when I came online this morning.

Frankly I expected things to get a bit off color but was totally surprised by the rude nature of the photo and the lack of concern about those who might not want to see or expect to see something of its nature at Signs 101. My reaction was to delete the thread and suspend the individual who posted it. I fail to understand what substance or value the thread had in the first place to elicit a complaint at its removal. But the thread was not removed because of its initial content ... only because it went far beyond what it started out as which tends to be why entire threads get shut down or deleted around here.

I simply don't have the time or the patience a lot of the time to babysit a thread that's gone bad.

However, I will not appologize for posting a thread that could,

It appears that he was although his regular habit of posting photos taken from other sites made the posting of a hotlinked photo inevitable.

That appears to be his intent based on private communications.
