I recently did a run of 7000 decals on my Roland SP-300. My machine ran non stop for many days 6-8 hours a day. After the run I now notice that the carriage is making a whining noise when the print and cut heads move left or right quickly. Like when its going to cut sheet or when its printing registration marks. I tried lightly greasing the carriage, I tried lightly oiling the carriage. I greased the bearings on the motor lightly. I still get the noise. It only happens when the machine has printed alot of stuff for an hour or so. It didnt make this noise, or at least I didnt notice it before. The Roland SP-300 is about 7-8 years old now, but I keep it very clean and well maintained. I have owned it myself for a little over a year.
Are there any bearings in the head assemblies that can easily be replaced? What causes this noise??? What can I do to fix it?
