Pisses me off to no end. A parent walking around in a school to pick up his kid without checking in with the office. Violated every rule in the book. Common courtesy would dictate at least a cursory stop at the front desk. But no, you have to wander around in a school without a challenge. Maybe just maybe one or another recognized you just a little? Then you write a letter to the school and get no response. How do you know there was no response.

Maybe the school admin was quietly taking care of business while trying to keep down any possible hysteria. But you in your foot stamping unfulfilled middle aged crisis having a sissy tantrum over not getting any attention alerted the entire region via the news agency about some school supposedly without any security. Wouldn't you at least think that would draw a nutbag? Yes, your action could have created a copy cat who would like to test the system and wander around a school of little kids. Way to go.. You are not a hero. A hero would go to the school admins to work up a plan on how to make the school secure.

But no, you have to stamp your feet to get your way. Let me call a whaaaambulance. Got some cheese with that whine?

You just had to make a frigging scene with the news media. Friggin t1tty baby whining about how you were able to get your kid. You should work in a junk yard because you sure make enough of it.

Are you just another Malcontent looking for some fame?

Avoiding left turns is one of the seven rules of defensive driving. Then avoid u turns and backing and then parking in the getaway position are a few more. But, lets examine some facts. UPS and the like run their routes with no left turns if at all possible. But i guess you never had a professional driving course. Or you would know that. You talk about safety. But your complaint about left turns is just about as lame as it gets. A left turn or a u turn is about the single highest cause of buss accidents. That's right... left turns and u turns. The only maneuver higher in danger is backing. So what do you want. Safety or a convenient shorter bus ride?

Why not get a little more educated about your uninformed facts before going off half cocked.

1. Did attempt to check in with the office it was closed. That is what brought up one of my first red flags. I followed that up with my very loud booming voice yelling Hello multiple times as I was wandering around looking for my kid.
2. I knew there was no response because, I did this 2 days in a row same scenario. I have made multiple attempts to work with the school board and have been rebuffed. Our school board has a long track history of doing what they want and not worrying about students safety and well being.
3. This all went down 2 days PRIOR to the school shooting. The original interview was postponed. Then the incident in Atlanta happened. Emphasizing my concerns.
4. I was a Vehicle Operator (I can operate damn near anything with wheels, and have the Awards to back it up) in the Air Force as part of the 81st Logistics Squad. I know how to move people & cargo. It's what I did for a living to keep our country safe. So, too attempt to lecture me on left hand turns etc.. is just BS you avoid doing pick up operations on major roadways whether it's people or cargo. I have the miles under my belt to back up those claims. I also spent plenty of time operating school buses in order to move troops on a daily basis. I know my stuff.

If kids are allowed to walk home from school, I don't see why it's the schools concern to actively interrogate everyone who comes to pick up a student, especially from an after school extracurricular activities.. but I'm not a helicopter parent so what do I know.

I see your concern Addie, considering you're not the father, and could walk right in there and take a kid that's not yours.

I'm glad you care for your kids, but 1 thing to keep in mind while you're seeking the towns attention. That school must hate you. To all ends. Several times you've called the news station on them. This in the long run could affect your kids if administration has a problem with you.. i'd tread carefully and take care of the problems with the school instead of the world...

Watched it.
I love how they show clips of kids frantically evacuating schools from horrific events along with this story of a father who went wandering around his child's school well after school hours to find his child. Apparently most staff and students were already gone for the day. He wasn't walking around in a trench coat or carrying guns.
Should all schools be set up like prisons...with a pat down at the front door before a metal detector and then escorted through the school by an armed guard? Even after hours when most of the staff and children are gone?

This is what I saw when he posted about this being their second offense with him in his journey to take people down for no reason.

The kids, will suffer for his 'concerns' over trumped up charges and accusations. It's one thing to work with your community, schools or police in these matters, but it's another thing to throw a whole admistration under the bus in hopes of making a name for yourself, at others expense. Sure, he might get some people in trouble, but he never thought this would or could backfire and people go after his kids just for the sake of it. In fact, the other kids will eventually start in on them, too. No one likes a snitch..... No one.

Addie is quick to act without thinking of ANY of the consequences he might be causing others for trying to further his selfish ego. With the new school year beginning, even his girlfriend will have a hard time of it at parents/teachers night. Cold shoulders, kids being casually ignored, kids being passed over for parts in plays or other school activities, sit the bench at basketball games or whatever. The list will go far. It won't be apparent at first, but this one is gonna come back to haunt him big.... time and time again. The worst one will be when you come to pick them up and go through proper channels to do so and the kids are trembling cause it's you coming to pick them up and the other kids will yell and make fun of them.

Yeah, real cool.... daddy. This will cause more stress in your life at home, than you even realize, yet.

This thread is a perfect example of what makes some of us tune in less

got that one dead on

I have no idea why after all this time I still bother to click a thread with that name on it but it must be like a train wreck, you don't want to look but end up looking and wish you hadn't after you see the horror that is

Been there done that and had to clean up behind my ex (a highway patrolman who felt the badge gave him super powers) and all the damage he did in the small town we lived in for the kids to deal with.

My kids cringed whenever he would come back to town and try throwing his weight around.

My favorite moment was when my daughter graduated high school and her father tried to throw his weight around to get a premium real estate spot to take photos of the graduate accepting her diploma. School officials would not let him in. My son stepped up and spoke to the people and HIS weight and good standing in the community caused them to allow the father to meekly then, step forward to the position he thought he could bull his way into.

I said all that to say this.....it DOES come back around

I would have concerns about this had it happened during school hours, but it didn't. It was extracurricular, after school hours. Most likely the coaches are volunteers that are trying to make a difference in a kids life. Also, they're middle schoolers, I think most should know who they can and can't go home with. Even if you were the neighbor and were asked about picking the kid up, can they refuse you? I think you're making a huge deal out of something that happens at every school across the United States when after school activities are involved.

I can understand his concern, being that I live near Heath High School. After the school shooting here, guards where posted at all the schools in the area. The high schools still have sherrifs deputies in them with there own offices and security cameras all over. To get into schools around here before school, during school and after school is like getting into a maximum security prison.

Or maybe here's another side.
The school board has a "I'm elected and know more complex" and only acts on things they think are important and suffer from the 'Third Base Complex". As my daddy use to say "sometimes you have to hit a mule right between the eyes with a two by four to get their attention"
All too often those on the school board have conquered his/hers first elected position on their way to a "political career" and most need a gps mapping system to find their way to to the board meeting. There are exceptions and I have seen these too.

You hear about how so many schools have installed buzzer systems at the front door. Like that has shown to be effect during the first week of school. Money well spent. One of my children's school have installed one. Oh, someone forgot the gym was detached and the door from the school to the gym had to remain unlocked so the kids could go to and from gym during the day. So most parents go to the front door get buzzed in, go to the office and scan their drivers license to check to see if they are a sexual offender and then they can go to a classroom or cafeteria. Now which door is the bad guy going to use? Yes, the staff at the school have complained for over a year.

Don't even kid yourself about kids being safe at school.

So before you take sides consider that there may be things not so apparent on the surface.

And yes I have experience with kids, schools, and school boards. 7 kids between grades 3-11 in 3 different schools.
