While I fully understand it isn't an "advertising" sign and as much as I appreciate that the craftsmanship is outstanding and all, the drastically overscaled "balls", their extreme brilliance compared to the other elements and the lack of effective prioritization in general leaves me pretty underwhelmed given all the effort.

As a matter of fact, the balls and columns are symbolic and inside most of the lodges. It was a request that they be incorporated into the sign. It was intended to be a main feature of the sign. I guess it's one of the secret things about the free masons that everyday folk wouldn't be knowledgable about.

Do a google image search for Masonic lodge and you will see them in nearly every image.
