It's a head-scratcher for me too. We're the largest Mutoh dealer in the US (maybe planet) and I know of no pending announcements. And we'd definitely get advanced notice.

You should contact your sales rep, there is definatly reason to wait if you're considering a VJ1304 or 1614!

Is it illeagal to say what the reason to wait is? I'm buying another printer and would love to hear what the big deal is. I will be talking with Kevin from Mutoh when I get to atlanta SGIA. Any info sooner would be great.

I thought of that. But that's hardly a mystery.

The posts are pretty vague and anonymous. I wouldn't give them a lot of consideration.

Trust me, if I knew something (we would) I'd tell you. The show starts tomorrow and is being set-up today. The kimono would be open by now even if Mutoh was planning a surprise.

Best,

Jim

Show starts today:

VJ1304 $14,995 w/ takeup
VJ1614 $18,995 w/ takeup

This should be avaliable from any Mutoh authorized distributor!

Humbly yours,
Ryan

Maybe Mutoh is going to respond to the Roland 64" for $17k with and that includes Versaworks 3 (a complete rip)

I'd hope not. ValueJet's speed and quality advantage should be sufficient incentive to anyone that demands serious production capabilities.

If it's more affordable that matters, we offer the Mutoh-made PrismJet VJ48, a 48" (print width) with FlexiSIGN-PRO, a complete design, rip, print, cut software, for $9995. Or loaded with all needed accessories and a bunch of supplies for $12,999. And it also benefits from the Mutoh quality and speed advantage that I2/Wave printing delivers.

Thanks for posting the new prices Ryan, I think it is great that Mutoh has reduced the price of the 64" ValueJet down to 19K. While this may not be as exciting as Mutoh anouncing a new printer, who can complain about a 4K savings if you were in the market for one.
Anyone need a competitive quote? Give me a call.

I paid $19750 in June last year... not such an alarming price reduction. What is the new "street price"??

Come on, Jim!
Are you telling us that Mutoh only lowered MSRP, but not the distributor price?
(I understand your position though... :) )

I'm not at liberty to discuss dealer price (it's non-disclosed). So I'll defer to my earlier comment: I'm not aware of any new announcements :^)

BTW, sounds like you got a good price, since I'm assuming you also received cleaning cartridges and a set of ink. Yeah?

If so, $18,995 + Cleaning Fluid Carts + Ink? Round about $19750 :^)

A 63" roll of scrim, a 63" roll of vinyl, set of ink (220's) & cleaning carts (4), and the printer delivered and installed... Plus Onyx Production House RIP. (paid 2K or the RIP)

From the time I decided to buy until the time it was in my shop was about 5 days! I thought that was pretty good. From glimmer in my eye to printing jobs in my shop in a few days!

The thing is the vendor wants to hose me on consumables and vinyl....especially their "OEM" brand (really chinese no name stuff). Never bought any of that so I have not heard back from them in 15 months!

Before the 1604 I was jobbing out to a couple local weenies but quality issues and vendor <lack of> responsiveness made me take the plunge. I wish we would have gotten a cutter and a laminator at the same time but I didnt know any better then.

this is just a print only, correct? Not like a 30" Versacamm where you can print and cut.
