His Logo, got everybody talking and everyone will remember it for good or bad! What are logo's suppose to do??? (Please don't miss understand) I neither love or hate it...6.7 Billion people in this village, and everybody see things differently! Maybe his customers will think it's the best sign in town, because it's LOUD!

1. No phone numbers in logos
2. No city/state in logos
3. Needs more contrast
4. I think that design is heavily abused, so I would start fresh.

Here is a better design going along the same tracks that you wanted to. Learn from it and take some ideas from it. See what you can do to improve yours and maybe salvage the idea.

Where did the OP (original poster) go? Surely they have tried to fix it. Let's see the updated version.

If you want to go retro, here's a few ideas that might inspire...

http://www.graphicd-signs.com/portfolio-logo-retro

I kind of live and breathe retro, but it's the hardest genre to nail down. Takes a ton of research, research, and more research. Then a ton of sketching, and more sketching.

On average, each of ours take about 25 hours. We just finished one from 1890's era, that took about 35 hours.

Get some books and study the era if you really want to do it right. They're hard to do well, but when they are done right, they look great.

I am still here but I choose to apend time with my family and not the internet. I agree it needs lots of work. I want a retro look but do not have a big budget for someone to make one for me. I can take the heat, but some folks have too much free time. Thanks to those who actully left good advice. I am going to work on it and contact some folks for help.--Phil

What you don't have is the luxury of having a bad logo. You can't afford NOT to have a good logo. You're looking at it all backwards. A couple thousand for something that will define your business more than almost anything else is pure investment, not cost.

Hire someone else to do it, even the kings of the logo industry tend to hire other people to do their identities as it's so damn hard to do work for yourself.

"A couple thousand for something" I wish I had a couple of thousand laying around. I am barley making a living right now after divorcing and getting married, buying a house etc. -Phil

Desperation entrepreneurship isn't good business. If you can't fund a business properly you should be working for someone else, sorry to break it to you. Cost of identity development should have been figured into your initial business plan and loan applications.

set aside all the crap that was posting in this thread and look into what Dan posted as he is the king of retro designs and gave you somehting to start with. retro is nice and can be done nice. it looks like you understand that and just need the skills to pull it off. try again and keep posting as this is how it gets tweaked out and refined.

I agree on the crap front. I think people don't remember that these big shops all started out small. I have been in biz for 10 years now. I have just hit lean times due to a divorce and re-booting my life in a better direction. Thanks for the advice from those who gave it.--Phillip

:ROFLMAO: HA HA HA HA HA HA! :ROFLMAO: :thumb:

dude, start over, i'm all for doing a rough mock up in horrible colors like pink and purple ... but that is to make sure that no matter what if something has such a horrible color scheme and still looks good (all be it odd looking) then with color it will be successful ... same as b/w layouts ... but really ... i change the colors so peoples eyes don't explode.

also, I enjoy doing retro work ... my freelance logo is retro based ... still doesn't mean I go straight for a vacuum logo from 1940.

find your own voice.

Really doesn't scream commercial work to me.... As others have mentioned maybe try different color combinations...

Got to agree with Pat. Clownish. Not real professional. Don't get me wrong. Looks good but if you're going for a more professional look. Try again.
