Need Help on Weather to Take on Label Job

Hey guys I have an Epson s80600L and Graphtec FC9000 and lately I been getting a lot of work doing labels for people. Today a client came in and wanted labels made for their brand and the sample that he gave me has a metallic look, it's a print on mylar on this sample....see attached. My question is since I have a solvent printer is this achievable without a huge headache? Any recommendations on a calendared vinyl that would work for this? I have found cast vinyl but not sure if that would be to thin for a label or not. I figure if I can't get this done without having to purchase a UV printer then maybe I can find a regular gold vinyl and print black over it.....any advice helps THX

Big question, how much is the customer wanting to spend?
They are probably shelling out under $1 for a printed, folded, heat sealed, ziplok added baggie. I don't mean to knock your business, but are you set up to diecut 1,000 of these, fold and heat seal, and add a zipper? Here's someone's pricing chart on their custom products:

Agree, I have found that these types of requests are usually fishing expeditions, get a ballpark budget from them before you put in too much time.

My bad these guys aren't looking for mylar bags and I don't do mylar bags because they're a pain in the ass. They want a 3"x 3" square label for their product line to put on jars and a circle label for the top of the lid.

There are solvent printable mylar-based films out there. Can't remember the series I used right off hand -- it's been a while since I had a request for mylar since I converted customers over to a faux gold/silver (flakes, not the true "mirror" or "brushed aluminum" styles). This was largely due to product availability during the pandemic.

Printable metallics are a bit on the pricey side. If you don't get the printable series the ink will turn out splotchy or possibly puddle up.

Include the cost of blades in your quote -- metallics wreck blades fast.

If you do go with one of the (faux) flake metallics, be sure to test several brands. Not all are printable.

This is what I have heard, thank you! I heard the Hexis Saturn White HX20BSAB
was good to use and with solvent inks

Holler at substance, see what they have. It's american made, nice and thick for hand application, and they have some sort of metallic options. Substance.com
