Need some opinions...New computer time!

I know that this will generate a lot of different opinions, but lets hear them anyways.
My old XP is faltering. I don't know what I really need as far as power, memory, ram and graphics card.
I am running Flexi 10 with a Roland SP300. I do some graphic fills occasionally. I also run Photo shop and plan on upgrading that to 5 or 6.
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance!:thumb:

PS I am running with windows

I come from the Windows world, but I have my share of Apple products. I predominately build custom computers, and I will just recommend that you get atleast 16GB of system ram. I also highly recommend a workstation class video card like the Nvidia Quadro or AMD Firepro

Your OS should reflect your workflow. I find windows to be more open ended and easy on memory management.

If you want to splurge for speed, get a SSD for processing your files.

my advice is to just buy the dam thing from casey and it will save you money in the long run. one of the best business decisions we made here...

get it from CAsey. And forget about spending any more time looking to assemble the perfect machine. Let Casey do it and you can spend time looking for new clients which is more profitable.

I am in the same boat, I want to replace my current computer with something newer, I am thinking about going with signburst but what other options are out there? I have built computers in the past (years ago so a lot has changed in that time) but I am also thinking about going that route.

I have a friend that said he would build one for me. Sign Burst is a good option but for my needs its overkill. I am a one man shop.I don't do giant wall size graphics or big fleet graphics, I don't have employees to network with, its just me.
Getting a good SSD (solid state drive) Win 7 and about 16gig mem. and a decent graphics card is all I will need. I'm looking at something in the $1100 to $1400 range.
Right now I am still using XP! This has lasted me almost 10 years. I am 59 now. I figure that I won't be doing this much more than another 4-6 years and anything that I get will be a HUGE improvement.
Good luck in your search, it can be confusing and frustrating at times.
