Pasting from Illustrator?

How do I copy and paste from Illustrator to photoshop in layers?
I have a design in illustrator that I want to paste into photoshop and be able to add effects and such to each layer, without having to copy and paste each layer one at a time. Seems like someone told how to do this on here before, but it was a long time ago.
Thanks!

You could copy then paste each Illy portion into PS, which would allow you to paste them as "smart objects" which will remain fully editable in Illustrator and automatically update in PS with your changes. You will still get each object on its own layer that way as well.

This is the only way I know how to move stuff between Illy and PS. I wish there was a way to paste in an object and PS splits it into different editable layers.
