System restore was one of the first thing I tried but it won't revert back to any previous restore points.

The jpg file is a picture I took. I scan for viruses and spyware often.

Another strange problem that has been around for quite some time
is VersaWorks won't open anything other than an eps file without freezing.

Alright, I'm with Techman on this one. I was a PC tech for 10 years and this sounds like a file structure issue. The fact that "NT" is in the error is more due to the file system being NT based.

Mike, the files you are having issues with, our they on a separate partition? or different hard drive?
