Removing Shadowing in Lexan? Possible?

Hey Guys,

We are redoing a backlit panel sign. The piece that we removed is still in pretty good shape but seems to have some yellowing obviously from the sun and has created some shadowing. Before I remove all the old vinyl, is there any way to get rid of the shadowing or should we just order a new panel? If there is a way to sort of polish it out or something else, this would save us a decent amount of money considering the sign is about 12 ft long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:thankyou:

the labor associated with trying to remove ghosting from lexan will make it so that you WONT save any, and will most likely lose money as opposed to just buying a fresh piece of plastic...

That's what happens with Lexan after time ... It yellows ... I have never heard of being able to remove that.

I have advised clients against reusing lexan panels. Even after they were up after a short preiod.
In fact it only takes a few months the ghosts will appear. I have panels that were reused and not a single ghost was showing. Now it is so obvious where the old lettering was. The plastic continued to change appearance over time and now the ghosts are showing. What a distraction.

Comet does a pretty good job and so does Rapid Remover.

Depending on if its a pan face for flat face and the budget, would really determine if its worth it to buy new or clean as good as you can.
