Need Help Roland BN-20 scratching noise on roll advance

My BN-20 is making a scratching noise while printing as the roll advances. It's coming from the left hand side of the machine. It only does this during printing; normal advancing of the roll does not produce this sound.

Clearly hitting the media clamp! You need to adjust immediately, or learn to use the machine without. I never used them when I owned this machine.

Everytime that head skates across that clamp and touches it, it's a risk for head damage.

That was it, thanks.
I'm now wondering what the point of the clamp is if it gets deformed from regular use. I can't see it helping flatten problem material with it being that flimsy.
