Roland SP540v Banding

Just tried uni-directional, looks the same pretty much (see attached).

And yes, I have done a feed correction, however, now that you bring it up I almost feel as though something might be off with mine. A few posts up, in order to get the banding looking good I had to set it to +0.65. On the test print for that it leaves a gap between the 2 squares, but made the print look good. For these most recent prints I've been doing (with your suggested SG-G) I have brought the feed setting back down to +0.15 which closes up that gap on the test print squares. Thoughts?

Would you mind sending a photo of it and I will take a look to see if I think it needs adjustment. Also have you played with heat settings at all? Not sure if it would help with this, but never know.

I've tried heat settings from 0 to mid 40s to 50 (normally what its at) and all seems relatively the same.

Also, I just did a little hunt for the specific Arlon profile for this media on the 540v, and tried it....it prints real bad lol. I'd say even worse than my originals on Generic Vinyl II.

Well that won't work then. Would you have the strip that shows all the multiple different options, looks like you could go a little more closer, not sure if it will make a big difference though.

Sorry, what do you mean by "shows all the multiple different options"?

Also, a huge huge thank you for all this tedious diag. help!

Maybe I'm confusing it with one of my other machines, but I thought it would print out a whole strip with numbers under it so you could choose which one was closer. I will take a look on my machine to see, maybe it's a detailed version or something.

I was, it is my newer machines that do that. Anyways, I would recommend bringing it in closer, and see if you notice any change, as based on that test print I don't think the head is bad enough to cause all that banding.

Other than the deflecting nozzles, it looks like the ink isn't curing well. Try upping the heat settings and maybe try another profile. A feed calibration is in order for sure.

I mostly have print and dryer at 50, and it's definitely hot (physically).

Trying another print now with the feed a bit tighter.

So, weird results here....see attached photos of the version and adjustment made to the Calibration. Nothing seems to change? From -2.00 all the way to +1.90...no change.

That is strange, as there should be a noticeable difference and they look very close to one another.

Yea, see attached. One is around -0.15 and the other is +2.00.

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about the nozzle test print, not calibration test print. Yeah that one on the right side looks pretty good. I hate to say it, but you might have to bite the bullet and get new heads. The nozzle tests don't look that horrible, but if they are all giving you the banding and you've tried multiple profiles, speeds and heat settings, I wouldn't have any more ideas for you. However there could be someone on here that has more experience then me that might have another suggestion. If you do get new heads, keep the old ones and write down the serial code before you input the new ones in case it doesn't solve, so you can keep them as back ups.

Well with your help I've definitely gotten the prints better, so I appreciate that a ton.

Maybe after these less important prints Im trying to get out I'll bite the bullet on 2 heads, will keep the thread updated for reference!

Thanks again Zoogee.
