Roland XC-540 "unconnecting": for no reason

I have a couple Roland XC-540. I am having a weird issue with one of them. I'll be running a job fine, print or cut. and once the job finishes, the printer reads "Not Connected" on the front panel?

I cannot find a cause or a solution. I unp[lug it, shutdown printer & computer, sometimes that works. I swith the port on the rtouter, that works sometimes.

Has anyone else had this issue, and does anyone know what is causing it. I've tried Versaworks on the original XP PC, and also a brand new Windows 7 box, both giving me the same issue.

IO need help. Let me know guys. You've saved my butt in the past...

We've been having an issue where they will sometimes disconnect in the middle of a job. It's been going on for months. Our IT department is blaming it on the printers and Roland is blaming it on our network. We now have a printer hooked up with a crossover cable to see if this fixes the problem (then we can determine it was the network). Just started this experiment yesterday so we don't have any conclusive results yet. Sorry I can't help more hopefully your problem isn't the same as ours because this has been going on since last fall and we still don't have a solution.

most likely router is giving away its IP address - set its IP out of the DHCP range and see if that helps

Network related. Check your cables.

i had the same problems and it was the network so i connected straight to the computer with a crossover cable and i have not had any problems since

I have both Rolands running via crossover cable directly to their own PC. They were running fine, but then I got the "Not Connected" on the machine that was giving me the trouble to begin with. Weird.
I'm maybe thinking the NIC on the Roland may be faulty. ?

definitely sounds like a network issue, have you tried running a straight cable from the RIP to the printer?

Since you are running 2 printers you will need to install another port card on the machine
