Need Help Royal Sovereign RSC1402-HW Laminator doesn't heat up

We've got a used RS 1402-HW Laminator that won't heat up. I'm having trouble finding any sort of trouble shooter for it to help me figure out what might be wrong. The only instruction in the manual we have says push the heat button to turn it on or off. I would assume there are fuses somewhere that might be blown or something, but I haven't found a schematic or anything to help. Is this a common problem and hopefully easy fix? Step by step instructions, details and pics are very much appreciated.

I don't mean to be rude, but those machines are cheap plastic Asian laminators and they rarely work after a few years. I'm sorry for being a complete schmuck for putting that out there, but I've been selling laminator for way too long and I always feel horrible for the people who buy them as opposed to mad for losing a sale.

I agree with Mark. Buying that things is like buying and old motorbike. You pass more time below them than riding them.

Yes, check fuses (altough never seen a blown one in a laminator) first and check main resistor end caps. Usually the resistor (the nicrom cable that goes inside the glass tube) break there. But if you cant buy parts, you are really xxxedup with trying to repair one of those if they are break in the middle.

One of the main resistor end caps and the wiring attached to it were burnt to a crisp. Replacement is $284. Not quite the cheap, easy fix I was hoping for, but doesn't seem to bad. I appreciate the help.

Question for RJB Freethink, what panels did you have to remove to get a view of the resistor end caps and the wiring attached.? I am currently dealing with my Laminator not heating up and want to take a look at any and all possible solutions before I consider purchasing a new one.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Both side panels. Just check resistance with a multimeter from one cap to the other. It should give u a high amount but not 0 (shorted) or -1 (infinite). In nearly all every laminator i have repaired, one cap is fried. Just be extremely carefull with the glass tube because it breaks really easy and u can end in the hospital like me

Well, chinese machines are what they are. The only good part is price and they are easy and cheap to repair. We use a neolt that has about 20 years and the only problem we had with it is that some operators usually used water while laminating lol the mainboard fried but it was a fast and cheap repair (just fuses and one relay). Thats the only failure of that machine in 20 years. We use it a lot since we dont have uv and we laminate nearly everything.

Like unmatera said, take both end panels off and there were a few bolts I had to remove from the ends of the roller to see inside the roller end caps. My boss still hasn't okay'd a replacement part. We've been carefully using a heat gun with anything we laminate except small stickers.

if you got it to use a few years, great....... we got a new one and it works properly, works fine, but the pressure is not enough for lamination, for any lamination, I place the film closer to the right side (it is a 64") and I hold the lever down with a lot of force to have a decent lamination, otherwise, a black ink color will come out like charcoal black or dark ash grey.
