"rule of thumb" for post install

The most important factor to consider is the sq.ft. of sign and the height to the center of the wind load. A 32sf sign that is 8' to the center of the wind load requires smaller posts
and smaller footings than that same sign 12'm to the center of the wind load. Always be sure your footing is below the frost line in your area. Your posts and footings need to be
correct for your wind load.
