So is this show done and over with? I know the AC show has been dying over the years but I haven't heard a thing about it since Covid started.

Looks like it's a go this year. They just put up a listing regarding it: https://usscfoundation.org/#2022show

That said, it looks to be dying a slow painful death. In previous years one of the highlights was the "free cocktail and hors d'oeuvres" in the pool area. But no mention of that. Also no list of any educational workshops. And looking at the shop map, it appears to have around 60 potential exhibitor spaces. So basically it's as small as previous (and that's if all spaces are filled). Keep in mind, the show is just over 2 months away and they just announced this yesterday, giving little time for potential exhibitors. Don't know if it's even worth going to this one, despite practically being in our backyard.....

For a place that used to house over 200 some vendors and seminars all 3 days...... it's turned into a joke. I hope if any of the Merchant Members here attend, they do well, but it's hardly worth a 2 hour trip for me, let alone others who come in by plane or travel even further.

One of the shops that does a ton of wholesale work for us (mainly dimensional letters) is based right outside of Philadelphia. The owner said that back when he first went in the 90's it was on the boardwalk at the old Convention Hall and said it was huge. Then he said the first dozen or so years it moved over to the new convention center, it was still a decent show with a lot of equipment manufacturers on the floor (CNC routers, channel letter benders, etc.) and "good" seminar choices. Now he said he'd only go as a getaway for the day and excuse to hit the casino, but only if they still have the free hors d'oeuvres party at the pool ;)

Yeah, think my first time was in the late 80's at the old convention center. They had free breakfast all ya can eat and it was a huge spread. Just about any breakfast food you can think of. Then, the actual convention and free food with coupons that people handed out. No computers, printers or crazy stuff. All hand made things. The bullpen was overrun with talented painters and pinstrippers. And everyone spoke english and were super friendly. Lots & lots of giveaways. I went every year after that, until about the early 2000's, cause it just turned into a big digital show with some booms in the back. People were no longer friendly and it was hard to hold a decent conversation as over 1/2 the people spoke some other language and the only english speaking person was already talking to someone else. So, ya just gave each other dumb looks and moved on. Yep, times have changed. If you're in the market for that kinda stuff, it's a great place to go, but it certainly isn't inspirational like it used to be.

I am having serious doubts of the USSC show in Atlantic City this year. They announced it on 9/22. It's now 3½ weeks later, and they still do not have anything updated (the floor plan. when you hover over it, shows a PDF document from 9/12/22). The show is less than 7 weeks away and they still do not have a vendor list, show list, seminar schedule, etc. None of the big vendors we deal with are planning on going, and on that note, a few didn't even know about it.

been a while since we have gone but it has definitely gone down in attendance of vendors and attendees. the first few years we went it was great. lots of people, lots of vendors, got some good show deals, met up with a few people from this site. it used to work out good for me because my wedding anniversary is nov 25 so usually i would bring my wife with me, we stay the weekend and have a little anniversary get away. a day or two at the show and time with the wife.... win-win.
maybe we will give it another go this year.

Are there any print & sign trade shows out there that are as big as they were in the 90s? Before digital took over you could fill half of the hall space with Heidelberg alone.

FireSprint.com

Trade Only Screen & Digital Sign Printing
Printing United takes up two of the LVCC halls. Biggest print show I have ever seen. Likely the largest North American show in 30 years. Still two more days left.

Adding to my previous postings regarding the Sign World 2022 show in Atlantic City:

-It's officially 6 weeks away, as of today
-Still no updated Show Map (PDF file is from 9/12/22)
-Still no list of vendors attending
-Still no list of seminars, nor schedule of any kind

And if all that wasn't enough, I emailed them on Monday after my last post here, essentially asking questions related to my points above. 3 days later, and no response.

I would think any serious show would have their stuff together 6 weeks out. Can't imagine this show is going to actually come to fruition at this point.
