For small runs I use vinyl on my screens. No damage to them and the adhesive doesn't embed. (as long as you stay away from inks with a solvent in them ... so plastisols and water based inks are the best) Also when you goto clean the screen the water will start to seperate the vinyl from the screen naturally. If you do get some screen burn in ... normal screen opening steps work for clearing it up. Obviously for long runs or screens that need to be stored this is a bad idea (since tiny details that are floating can come off after repeated pushing of ink on the adhesive) ... but i've done runs of 100 with no problem.
