Software will not recognize Dongle. Need help

I purchased used Mutoh Falcon Outdoor 48" that came with Onyx 6 Rip software.
I finally got the tech in today that got the printer up and running but I have issues installing a RIP.

It asks me to Plug in a valid HASP Security Key.
When I plugged it the first time, it did all the updates and it installed all the drivers itself but i still have the software asking for a "Valid" dongle.
When I bought it, the guy showed me how to use RIP and he had the same dongle plugged in his computer. It is the "right" dongle that he gave me and it was valid on his computer.

Dos anyone has a slightest Idea what it can be wrong?

Thank in advance!!! :signs101:

1st you don't say what version of windows you are trying to install the software on,...my money is on the fact that onyx 6 was probably circa win xp and written for that OS not a newer version of windows the onyx site currently is supporting version 10 which tells me you may very well have to upgrade the software in order for it to work on a newer OS such as win 7,....

Yes, I'm on W7.
I did update the drivers for the dongle to the drivers for W7.
It is not that the software will not install, it just tells me that it will not recognize the dongle or that the dongle is not "valid"

turn off your computer and unplug it for a few mins. This will reset your usb ports.

if that doesn't work i would suspect the dongle is a higher version of usb than what your machine is.

How does that work?

The usb ports can get corrupted if you pull a usb device without ejecting it. However, if you eject it you basically are ejecting all usb devices so if you have another device on a usb port it will eject and restart ruining anything it is doing.

I know that if I pull my embroidery software dongle while the software is up I need to turn off and unplug to get the USB ports working again.

There are other things you can try as well.

This one has a link to a hotfix for usb ports:

Checked with Onyx.
Version 6 WILL NOT work on Windows 7 :(

I think that I will need to buy a computer from a person that sold me the printer and the rip.
