static cling profile in versworks

We use a generic calendar vinyl profile(ECVP) and cool the heater and dryer down about 5*c on each setting and it has worked great for us. The heat is key, too warm and the cling starts to bubble while printing, we learned the hard way :)

Yup! The static cling profiles are there and they work just fine. I did get the Static cling from Roland also. The price was comparable to local suppliers too!

30" is not available in the clear, only 54" or 50". Kinda wasteful for small jobs.

yeah, was great that i got the exact profile i needed and got the job printed and ready for the customer in the morning... oh and thanks trik...that probably would have got the job done by the sounds of it to! thanks

help static cling

Hey guys,

So i've tried all the stuff said to do here in the forum and am not having very much luck. I keep getting over saturated looking ink. Ive tried:

-different heat settings

-Different profiles: GCVP
GCVP minimum ink limit (seems to be best so far but still splotchy)
Generic vinyl 1
white static cling

color profile in photoshop is adobe rgb 1998

material is solvex static white on roland vs-540 6 color CMYKLcLm

any help would be great. Im stuck. print is supposed to be installed tomorrow.

What profile , heat settings, etc. did you use that worked? I know ever printer is different but would be nice to have a general starting point that might be closer than where im at. Again thank you as always.

I don't know the Solvex material well, but one of the little things we have found helps with a lot of static materials is to make sure that full width scan is on. For most media, it is okay to just move the carriage the width of the print, but the peculiar ink absorption and drying characteristics of static cling mean that the extra time it takes to do a full width scan can be helpful in letting the ink absorb and avoiding the "splotchy" look you're fighting.

we just use the clear calandered vinyl profile. that gives us the best results
it should print on the high quality setting. i use the solvex material all the time and it usually prints fine
(sometimes i will get some quality issues depending on the file) heat is set on 41 pre, 41 print and 41 dry

we do one job where the files are photographic images and i have had some quality issues but it's usually just a temporary window ad
usually the customer is ok with it but i show him a sample first

So I got it to work after some tinkering. I'm on Fahrenheit settings but print heat at 108 and dryer at 120. GCVP profile with ink limit backed off to 100%. Unidirectional with head speed set at 400-500. Photographic quality. Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully that info might help someone else out in the future.

ps. Roland VS-540 CMYKLcLm / Solvex white static cling / Versaworks
