has anyone had success printing on white static cling materials? it will be used on 1st surface like a temporary/removable POP project, so no mirror print or backing white (like a 2nd surface application).

i have done it on my rolands many times. the only issue i have encountered is i have to print using the high quality mode to get the best print results and remove the pinch roller clips(not sure if your machine has these but on the rolands there is an issue with the material sometimes sticking)

Static cling is one of my main supplies. I print about 300 to 1000 SF weekly. Its going to take a bit to calibrate your colors on the printer for it. I Use a hp9000s. What issue do you have, I may be able to help.

I do alot of them and I confirm it work. Like the others said, you'll have to adjust your colours the first time.

Scott, petepaz's comments about the rollers is very important. Cling is very soft and the rollers will leave imprints in the cling. Otherwise, you should have ZERO issues.

i have not tried to print cling on the mimaki yet. i have a project that is too large for my edge (to keep as 1 piece items) and didn't know if it was typical to run w the JV5.
it does have feed-in pinch rollers that i would think i need to keep engaged.

maybe less preheat/print heat, (or more?) might help with the indentions you reference?

i'll def have to setup a media profile and ICC since it's a different face surface.

does the drying heat affect the media during runs? any recommends on media to start with?

Scott, whichever cling you use, make sure you get an ICC profile from the mfgr. That profile will at least get you in the right neighborhood; it will require tweaking. Are you up against deadlines?

By the way, does the media HAVE to be cling; what about a removable adhesive media?

I use more heat and havent had an issue with the pinch roller. Most important of all is to not use any take up real. hang up to dry on a wall for a few hours.

planning to test later today. no rush, just trying to get in front of it if it's something that will work.

customer requested cling, and we could always screen if necessary.
