Sticker Lamination on UV Prints. needed or not?

Hi Everyone!

I have a UCJV300 and I was wondering if you were laminating your stickers? Feels like the finish is ruined by the lamination on UV prints and since it is UV ink, is it really necessary for outdoor purpose?

Depends what it is, but yes we do laminate some of our prints off our UCJV.

Cast laminates w/ heat assist is best.

we generally don't laminate UV prints but we do have some occasions where it is necessary. you should try to find a specific UV lam if possible, it will conform to the uv ink better. we generally print on polyester/mylar so we use a polyester/mylar laminate. but they do have specific vinyl laminates for UV printing, ask your vendors. also if you have a heat assist laminator that also helps.

Do you have any recommandation of laminage? I will try one. I might have a very bad laminage film
We like 3M 8418G. Super thin and conformable and will generally cover thicker UV ink nicely with a touch of heat on the laminator.

We also use Avery DOL 2080 matte which is thicker/calendared, and will sometimes leave a bit of silvering around raised/printed areas but have never had a complaint. I'm very picky when it comes to our prints and I think it still produces acceptable results.

If they are for handing out I dont think laminating is necessary.
We sometimes laminate our UV prints if customers request it. Mactac Permacolor LUV Matte or Gloss works really well and is meant for UV prints.

You will get the best results when using a liquid UV laminator like those built by Tech Lighting.

The problem is getting a customer to pay for the cost. Obviously this depends on the application but liquid is the way to go.
